David Baynes – Chairman & Director
David is Chief Executive and an Executive Director of bioFusion, plc, the university intellectual property commercialisation firm. He has previously worked at Celsis International plc ("Celsis") from its incorporation to its flotation on the full list of the London Stock Exchange in July 1993; Toad plc (now TG21 plc), which he co-founded, and was responsible for taking the company from start-up to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange; Whereonearth Limited; and Codemasters Limited.
Ian L. Pykett – Chief Executive Officer & Director
Ian was previously Chief Technology Officer of Intermagnetics General Corporation (acquired for 1 billion Euro by Royal Philips Electronics in 2006) where he managed the development and commercialisation of world-class and award-winning innovations; and was a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of an imaging instrumentation start-up that first commercialised an innovation - now in world-wide use - that was a subject of his university research. For his work he was awarded the 1997 UK Rank Prize in Optoelectronics. A graduate of London (BSc) Birmingham (MSc) and Nottingham (PhD) Universities, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, and is a Chairman of the Industrial Programme Support Scheme Assessment Panel of the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
John M. Rodenburg – Chief Scientific Officer & Director
John holds a personal chair in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society. He has a BSc in Physics from the University of Exeter (1982) and a PhD from the University of Cambridge (1986). Prof. Rodenburg’s research has focussed on the development of recording methods for coherent electron diffraction; development of parallel electron energy loss spectroscopy and energy-filtered imaging; development of a novel solution to the Phase Problem via ptychography; and work on novel methods of iterative phase retrieval for the purposes of lensless imaging in microscopy.
Neil Loxley - Director
Neil was formerly ar Bede plc, a leading supplier of high-resolution x-ray diffraction metrology for the semiconductor and compound industries, recently acquired by Jordan Valley, the world leader in x-ray metrology solutions. Neil was the driving force in transforming Bede Scientific Instruments from a specialist scientific instrument company into a global semiconductor equipment company. Neil is a Fellow of the Insitute of Physics.
Vassilios Albanis – Senior Optical Research and Development Scientist
Vassilios is the Senior Optical Scientist in Phase Focus, working on the implementation of the lensless microscope and the reconstruction algorithm in the optical wavelength, towards a commercially competitive system. His background is in optics and imaging and has previously worked at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, on optical integrated circuits and at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology on ocular imaging and wavefront sensing. He holds a BSc in Physics (Sussex) and a PhD in Laser Physics (Southampton).
Martin Humphry - Senior Physicist
Martin was previously co-founder and CEO of Nanograph Systems, a microscopy company spun out from the University of Nottigham. He has also worked in the financial sector for Reuters and JP Morgan as a software engineer. Martin holds a BSc in Physics and PhD in Nanoscience from the University of Nottingham. His role at Phase Focus is primarily leading the development of optical applications and products.
Andrew Hurst - Software Engineer
Originally a graduate in Computer Science at the University of Sheffield, Andrew's PhD has been with John Rodenburg implementing the first proof of principle experiments for the technology on which the Phase Focus method is based. Andew's work is to develop robust licensable software alongside supporting the company's R&D operations and software infrastructure. |
