Phase Focus Announces the Delivery and Installation of a Lens Profiler Instrument to the Brien Holden Vision Institute in Sydney, Australia
Phase Focus Limited is pleased to announce the successful delivery and installation of a Lens Profiler Instrument to the Brien Holden Vision Institute in Sydney, Australia; one of the worlds leading applied vision correction research institutes.
This innovative instrument uses the Phase Focus Virtual Lens® method to provide highly sensitive, precise analysis of power and thickness of soft contact lenses in their hydrated state.
The Phase focus Lens Profiler will allow researchers Dr Klaus Ehrmann and Dr Fabian Conrad, to further advance their work in the optical design of novel soft contact lenses. The Lens Profiler instrument is unique in that it measures thickness, oxygen transmissibility and power of hydrated contact lenses in one instrument, and sets a new standard for soft contact lens metrology.
Quote from Ian Pykett CEO Phase Focus
“Phase Focus is delighted that Brien Holden Vision Institute decided to invest in our technology and they join some of the world’s major contact lens manufacturers as customers of our equipment. For this prestigious institute to recognize our technology as important to their work validates our continued investment in the area of ophthalmic metrology for the Phase Focus Virtual Lens method.”
Quote from Klaus Ehrmann at Brien Holden Vision Institute
“We are pleased to take delivery of this system which will help with our lens measurements and designs. After an evaluation of the companies and metrology systems available, the Phase Focus Lens Profiler proved to be the system best suited to our needs and will help our development of the next generation of contact lenses.”

About Phase Focus: www.phasefocus.com
Phase Focus Limited, based in Sheffield UK, is commercialising a disruptive lensless imaging technology (the Phase Focus Virtual Lens®) which uses a proprietary mathematical algorithm to generate images from the diffraction pattern generated by an illuminated beam on transmission through or reflection from a specimen. Applicable to the full electromagnetic spectrum as well as to electron and other particle waves, the Virtual Lens has been demonstrated in a broad range of applications from life sciences to electron microscopy to semiconductor and ophthalmic lens metrology.
About Brien Holden vision Institute: http://www.brienholdenvision.org/
The Brien Holden Vision institute began 30 years ago in Australia, recruiting and linking some of the best researchers in the world, creating new and better ways to correct the most common eye conditions – myopia, presbyopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. The Institute’s research focus on new technologies, including contact lenses, glasses and surgical products, has resulted in successful commercialization of advanced products. This success has enabled reinvestment and revenue for the Brien Holden Institute Foundation, which develops programs and models of vision care, and education for developing communities worldwide. The Brien Holden Vision institute Foundation is committed to providing excellent and equitable vision solutions for everyone, everywhere.
Research opportunities provided by Brien Holden Vision Institute help to produce the next generation of researchers, educators, public health specialists and practitioners to ensure superior vision outcomes for all people.
